Shaving Soap | Brushwood
Brushwood shaving soap is specially formulated to lather best with a shaving brush to build a dense, creamy lather that works as a natural, traditional lather for wet shaving. Cocoa & shea butters plus vegetable-based stearic acid generate a thick, dense cream, and a small portion of coconut oil is included to open up the lather just enough to lift lather off the soap. An addition of vegetable glycerin gives the razor extra glide and acts as a humectant to moisturize. The scents of lavender, clary sage, and tea tree from steam-distilled essential oils add an herbal, camphor and floral scent to your shave.
Each bar of soap has a net weight 3.5 oz.
Ingredients: Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Water, Lye, Coconut Oil, Stearic Acid, Essential Oils, Vegetable Glycerin, Rosemary Leaf Extract
"When we say our soaps are “100% All-Natural Handmade Soaps,” we mean it. But what exactly does “All-Natural” mean? There’s no standard and agreed-upon definition for natural, so we’ve committed to crafting our own standards for our products:
Minimally processed ingredients sourced from natural origins. This means we search for close-to-nature botanicals, oils, and ingredients to make our products.
Free of synthetic fragrances and colorants. Sticking to what's come from Mother Nature is really important to us, so we steer clear of anything that's originated in a laboratory or at a refinery.
Going beyond natural: Palm-Free products. With all the concerns surrounding the deforestation and lack of sustainability in palm oil production, we’ve decided to avoid the controversy and avoid palm oil altogether.
Tallow: the perfect soap ingredient. Tallow has a bad reputation – many like to disparage it as a way of separating themselves from other soapmakers. The truth is that tallow and palm oil are nearly identical, without the environmental cost of deforestation and a 10,000 mile journey. On it’s own, tallow makes a gently cleansing, skin-conditioning soap with a dense, creamy lather, and in our soaps it contributes significantly to the overall high quality of our soaps.
Up-cycling: reversing our impact on the environment. It is a with pride that we work with local sources to collect as many of our ingredients as we can, and our tallow in particular makes a large positive impact on the environment. We rescue suet from local butcher shops (where it has no further purpose), which we then purify ourselves to create a tallow that not only makes a better soap, but minimizes the miles our ingredients travel to get to our workshop and into your homes."
