The "Fletcher" | Asymmetrical Gemstone Pendant

The Product:

In this limited edition necklace, a rough natural lapis lazuli slab and pyrite point are masterfully paired and securely suspended on a double golden brass arc. Visual texture and asymmetry combine in an interaction of balance and texture. The antique brass chain measures 30", perfect for wearing alone or pairing with another piece!

The Maker:

Designer and self-taught jeweler Rachel Frye has worked in many creative mediums throughout her life, so making jewelry came about naturally but almost by accident. The original designs were born out of a love for found objects and a desire to give them new life. This eventually led to the desire to create her own simple and easy to wear unique objects. Rachel's exploration in Jewelry and adornment began 2008 when she launched the line CIVAL to local boutiques and retailers and after slowly growing over the years, in 2013 CIVAL Collective was fully established as a jewelry label.

Rachel teamed up with creative business savant Danielle LaVigne to make a cohesive line of contemporary well-crafted accessories in brass, natural stone, and leather with a focus on function, form, and durability. The duo finds inspiration from many traditional aesthetics, including vintage textile patterns, geometric forms, and strong architectural lines.

As Wisconsin natives with small town roots, their connection to the Midwest landscape and way of life is evident in their timeless creations. Drawing on the Great Lakes in particular, they bring color and texture to their designs that are easy to wear, perfect for any occasion, and made to last.

THREE HEARTS HOME IS DIFFERENT.

Most retailers are about consumption.  The more you buy, the more they make.  Three Hearts Home is about being conscious consumers...about knowing where the things in your home come from, and how they were made.  We are about buying fewer, low impact, artisan-made, heirloom quality goods instead of countless, unnecessary products with limited lifespans and no heart, that will inevitably end up in a landfill.  We are about filling our lives with beauty and surrounding ourselves with art and craft, and by doing so, becoming connected to local and global communities of Makers.

OUR COMMITMENT TO "LOVING THE EARTH"

Loving the Earth and operating in an environmentally responsible way is extremely important to us, and is a commitment we have made to our trusting customers.  Here are a few of the ways we honor that commitment:

  • Sourcing low impact, sustainable, and otherwise environmentally-friendly products:  When seeking out new makers and new products to offer at Three Hearts Home, we look for items made responsibly.  Many of our products are made with reclaimed or sustainable materials, and are created using low impact, environmentally friendly methods.   We love finding small-batch makers who use "slow" methods, as they are gentle on the environment in addition to being high quality and unique.
  • Ecofriendly Shipping Materials:  All of the materials Three Hearts Home uses to ship are made of recycled materials, or are recyclable themselves.  Our boxes are made of 100% post-consumer materials and are manufactured in the USA.  We reuse as much packing material that is used in shipments to us as possible, instead of discarding or sending it to be recycled.  For this reason, you may see several different types of packing material in your shipment.  We do recycle any recyclable materials we cannot reuse.
OUR COMMITMENT TO "LOVING THE MAKERS"

Three Hearts Home was founded by a family of Makers.  With this background, we know firsthand that handcrafted items have a quality and soul that mass produced items don't have.  We know that by buying from artisans we are not only sustaining traditional methods of art and craft, we are sustaining the artisans themselves.  We understand the importance of supporting Makers and honoring their expertise and artistry by paying fair wages.  The products we buy that are not American made are sourced from companies with a commitment to social responsibility.  See our Fair Trade collection for products made by global artisans working with companies that follow the principles of Fair Trade.

Where are your products made?

We carry products made by artisans and independent Makers around the globe. The majority of our merchandise is made by independent designers and makers in the US. In addition to American made products, we carry a selection of Fair Trade goods and organizations that support social causes and promote empowerment of marginalized communities.

What is Fair Trade?

The World Fair Trade Organization outlines 10 principles of fair trade: 1) Creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers; 2) Transparency and accountability; 3) Fair trading practices; 4) Payment of a fair price; 5) Ensuring no child labor and forced labor;   6) Commitment to non discrimination, gender equity and women's economic empowerment, and freedom of association; 7) Ensuring good working conditions; 8) Providing capacity building; 9) Promoting fair trade; and 10) Respect for the environment. Most Fair Trade importing/producing organizations are members of or certified by one of a number of national and international Fair Trade Federations.

My product looks a little different than the photo. Is that normal?

It can be! Most of our merchandise is handcrafted, making each piece unique. Slight variations in size, color, form and finish are expected in handcrafted items, and add to the individuality of each piece. That being said we make every effort to ensure the products we ship are as close to the description and photographs as possible. Feel free to contact us if you have questions or concerns.
