ZigZag Shibori Pillow

The Product:

Shibori is all the rage these days! And for good reason...this ancient Japanese art form produces gorgeous results!  "Shibori" refers to the method of creating patterns when dyeing cloth by stitching, binding, folding, twisting or compressing.  With their final design in mind, artisans bind sections of cloth with thread. How tightly and where the cloth is bound determines the final result.  This pillow includes an envelope closure in the back. Hand wash and hang to dry.

Made from locally sourced cotton fabrics and non-toxic vegetable dyes.

Measures: 16"x16"

Sustainable pillow insert is included, and made of infinitely recyclable fiber fill.  Made in the US using a minimum of 95% post-consumer recycled plastic, with no water and less electrical power than virgin fibers.

The Maker:

These beautiful pillows are made by a small group of mostly women artisans in a dry desert climate of western Rajasthan, India, where people rely on crafts, tourism, and mining for their livelihoods. Here, the shibori art form has been passed down through generations. Now, with fair trade partnerships, artisans are achieving greater economic stability, with access to new international markets.
